Posted by Jen in : Journal, Writing Bits , 3 commentsI have realised that this blog has become inadvertently poncey… and my incessant twiddling of fingers as I count syllables for the obsessive formation of haikus is quite frankly beginning to worry even me.
‘Write a daily haiku’ proclaimed the dreaded A215 coursebook. ‘Keep a journal. Write first thing in the morning while your subconscious is still doing whatever it does when you’re not paying attention’ (or words to that effect). It has a lot to answer for.
At 5.30 this morning, I awoke with something amazingly creative fizzling in my mind. ‘Write it down, write it down, it’s too good to forget,’ insisted my brain, unfettered by caffeine - though admittedly possibly still a little booze-addled.
I’m not quite sure what long suffering bf was mumbling as I snapped on the bedside light, ranting ‘where’s my bloody pen?’. It sounded suspiciously like ‘oh, for f**k’s sake’. So… after this preamble, I should probably share what was scribbled into my notebook and which, yes, I confess, I would have forgotten:
“She was dark-skinned but with freckles - half black and half white like a Starsky and Hutch concentrate”
Oh dear.
