Adoration February 18, 2007

Posted by Jen in : Journal , trackback

I was listening to Grayson Perry on Desert Island Discs this morning and something he said kind of grabbed me…

Attention is just a form of low-grade love

I think there may be something in that? It’s been gnawing at me all day. It’s making me Think Things.  Analyse Things.
But at the risk of sounding like a bit of a hippy, I would just like to say Bring on this lurve… I’m not fussy which form it takes. Anything from true, can’t-help-yourself love to a tickle under the chin will do me nicely.

Oh, you’ll have to excuse me. I’m a touch hungover vague today. I need squid. Lots and lots of lovely squid. Then I will be perfectly normal again.

Sadly, I have no squid.

Squid? That’s a new one on me. I have heard of many things needed after a bit too much but squid? Ah, well we learn something new everyday.
Sending some lurve your way so that you feel lots better :-)

Cucumber is what you need. It’s a versatile veg!
Squid? Is that rhyming slang?????

Hugs anyway. Cos you’re right lovely.

Squid? Cucumber? Although cucumber’s a ‘happy food’ isn’t it - at least that’s what I tell my kids! I’m afraid it’s tea for me, and Green & Black’s chocolate. But hey, whatever does it for you!

I’ve been to your blog and looked at the quote from Grayson Perry several times today, and I’ve thought a lot about it too. It’s made me think about how relevant it is to me as a Mum and how I treat my children and also how I behave and am treated as one of a couple. Interestingly, I think it’s one of the gripes that one of my characters has with a personal relationship. I shall go away and listen to Desert Island Discs on my pc. Thanks for making me think.

I’m sending love to you right this second. Can you feel it? I hope so, because it’s wearing me out! Now rest that hippy little head of yours and stop Thinking Things. You are making the rest of us look bad. XX

Aw, thanks chaps, you’re the tops!!! Am feeling the lurve big time and have come over a touch mushy :)

The quotation itself is still giving me food for thought… probably a reason why I’m a bit of an attention-seeker… hmmmm…

Sorry, Kate, I’m still Thinking Things :(
