More Mechanical Misery February 12, 2007
Posted by Jen in : Journal , 1 comment so farDespite the fact that Number 1 Son still hasn’t let me forget the last incident of motoring misfortune, I am now tormented by windscreen-wiper woes. To be precise, and a tad more technical, said windscreen-wipers won’t work.
I have a sneaking suspicion that something fuse-like may have imploded while I was switching them on and off in an aggravated, ferocious and rather unlady-like manner, bellowing pleasantries such as ‘Come on, you bastards’ while they were, in fact, frozzened solid to the windscreen on Friday.
I have managed to sweet-talk the local mechanic to investigate and replace my exploded parts. But I can’t go. Because it is raining. In approximate measures of many buckets full.
With no work ’til Wednesday and the beasts on the piste, I shall have to resort to household chores and writing. I have loads to do but am mindful of the fact that, while hard work never killed anyone, it’s best not to take the chance. I might die of starvation though. Oh, hang on, it’s ok: I have half a jar of Marmite and some fluff. Rest assured, dear reader, I shall survive.

Is it Summer yet? Until then, I’ll be going nowhere.

Guess who’s been out to play with her camera in the snow?
It’s almost unbearably beautiful outside. Sometimes, just sometimes, a moment is so perfect, so still, that even breathing would vandalise it.
Am calm now. Shhhhhhhh…
Overexcited
Posted by Jen in : Journal , 6 commentsNo, that was just a whimper. It’s not even 6am yet and I am truly, madly, utterly and completely overexcited. I am looking out of the window. Looking out and, oh, smiling smiling smiling. Can you tell what it is yet? Yes, it’s SNOWING… yippee, woo hoo and hurrah!!! Double hurrah, in fact, with shaky chocolate on the top and a cinnamon stick.
Instead of my early morning writing extravaganza, I am hitting ‘refresh’ on SouthernFM to see if the schools are cancelled. Not because I want to skive and play in the snow, or go for a snowy walk with the dog and drink hot chocolate or anything. It’s, y’know, so I can write my novel. No, really!
*Adopts a serious Noel Coward sort of voice*
‘Today, my lovelies, one will be writing one’s novel in the snow.’
Did I mention that I’m a little bit overexcited??????

Saturday Woe February 3, 2007
Posted by Jen in : Journal , 6 commentsWhoops a daisy. I made a brief foray to the outside world last night for a bite to eat and a little drinkie or two with Ruth and Pretty Hana (the Bouncing Czech).
I’m not quite sure how much I had to drink but I do feel a little peculiar today. I hadn’t realised quite how low I’d sunk until I realised I was actually surfing my own blog… And now I’m writing a blog post about surfing my own blog. That’s not right, is it, in the world of the sane and normal?
Dinner was scrummy until Pretty Hana wanted to know about her lamb. She was drunkenly aghast to discover that she was eating “baby sheeps”. Lamb doesn’t sound quite so appealing now, for some reason. Ew. Or should that be ‘ewe’? No, thought not. Silly me.
Anyway, instead of a writing day, I’m having a woe-is-me, where’s-the-milk-thistle-when-I-need-it day. The only thing to make me smile so far has been a cruel mention of the unmentionable incident involving lovely bf and some river-related spectacle loss, stinging nettles and the funky knees dance which should never, ever be performed on a bridge over a river. But I promised I wouldn’t ever mention that incident so I’ll just have to leave it to your imagination. Sorry.
